Of Evanescence and Anastasia

After 2 days of driving and some rest stop sleeping (Ponce de Leon Springs), we righted the only wrong of the trip (not surfing the closed Inland Surf Park in Austin) by finally getting some waves in St. Augustine. We managed to get a spot at Anastasia State Park and immediately head to the beach for a side shore wind fest. It wasn’t great but it was better than driving on I-95.

Life on the Road

Karma Wi-FI Hotspot
Killer interface, easy to use and share, the Karma utilizes Sprint’s 4G LTE with fallback to CDMA (3G). The download speeds are 6-8Mbps with peaks up to 25Mbps with uploads around 2-3Mbps. With my Macbook Pro, I was able to have internet for most of I-10 and even in around Port Arthur. It’s not perfect, but you are on a road trip and not in an office and some untethering is necessary. Devices connected: Macbook Pro, Microsoft Surface Tablet and iPhone.

Tripping Thru Austin

It was election night 2016 and the calm before the storm. We took the Sprinter on its maiden voyage to the Rainey Street Food Court where we decided to eat at Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden. I had the Bratwurst and German Potato Salad, which was close to my grandmother’s and @mjmt_ had the fried chicken. With its outdoor stage and amazing vibe, I can only imagine what a live show would be like there.
